Marcelo Viola Malet
Is the Chief of Surgical Department of Médica Uruguaya (MUCAM). He completed his undergraduate studies and the Surgery Residency at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic and at the Surgical Clinic “1” of the Pasteur Hospital. Obtaining the title of General Surgeon in 2001. In that year he began his teaching career at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic.
He has authored multiple scientific papers. Together with other great surgeons in Uruguay, he was a great promoter of advanced laparoscopic surgery, through theoretical and hands-on simulation courses, as well as direct instructor of several generations of residents and young surgeons.
He is currently vice president of the ERAS Latam society, being a leader in Uruguay and Latin America in the implementation of the improved perioperative recovery protocols of the ERAS Society.
He is a member of the Uruguayan Society of Surgery, the Spanish Association of Surgeons and a Foreign Corresponding Member of the Argentine Association of Surgery.
