Chief Executive Officer & Registrar Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB), Kenya
Dr. Matilda Mghoi is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and the Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB), Kenya, the statutory regulatory body responsible for the regulation of counselling and psychology practice in Kenya.
She is a Global Master Trainer in the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) and Advanced Treatment Curriculum (ATC) for substance use disorder treatment and a specialist trainer in Psychological First Aid (PFA). Dr. Mghoi previously served as the National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator and Co-Chair of the Ministry of Health’s National MHPSS Technical Working Group, where she played a key leadership role in coordinating Kenya’s MHPSS response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Mghoi has contributed to the development of national mental health policies, strategies, and guidelines and serves on the Board of Dementia Aware Kenya. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to mental health, she was awarded Kenya’s Best Mental Health Worker in 2012.
