Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services in the Ministry of Health, Kenya
Judith Awinja Aluora is a Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services in the Ministry of Health, Kenya. My goal is to provide leadership to Nurses and Midwives in the country to achieve set global and local goals.
The most impressive achievements are: Development of the Kenya National Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan 2024 – 2030; National Nursing and Midwifery Policy – 2022 – 2032; During Covid 19 pandemic I innovated an APP that nurses used to take care of 50 patients at a time in their homes while sitting in the work station; I started the community Strategy program to empower the community to take charge of their own health, nurses take the lead of the program; I started the Health Systems Strengthening Program on Leadership Management and Governance, majorly targeting Nurse leaders; among others. The programs are still running to date, more than five years after their initiation. I spearheaded the review and development of the Career Progression Guidelines – March 2025 (known as the Scheme of Service review from 2014 to date), and I am currently initiating the Centre of Excellence Institutions on Leadership for Nurses and Midwives.
