Doctor Pietro Venezia borns in Montescaglioso (Matera – Italy) on January 8, 1954. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery, subsequently, he specialized in General Surgery and in Oncology, with full marks and honors at the University of Bari (Italy). He obtained the Diploma of Laparoscopic Surgery by the Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons with the highest marks and the Certificate of Laparoscopic Visceral Surgery at the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg (France), and after the Master Class of Tyroidectomy in Elancourt, at the Center de Formation Covidien. He followed the World Health Organization: Global School on Refugee and migrant Health: Sharing Country experiences on health and migration” by telepresence on October 2021. In 1982, he attended Saint Mark’s Hospital in London (U.K.) as a post-graduate visitor, for the execution of surgical operations on the digestive tract, and during his specialization in oncology, attended the Gustave Roussy Institute in Villejuif (France), learning how to perform liver resection and esophagectomy operations. During this period, he developed the thesis “Major surgery and reductional chemotherapy in Polymetastatic Apudomas” published in the Annales de Chirurgie . Until the January 31, 2019, he was director with high specialties at the Institute of General Surgery of the University Hospital of Policlinico di Bari (Italy). Here he introduced Laparoscopic Surgery by performing several operations and also the first Laparoscopic Distal Pacreatectomy with spleen and splenic vessels preservation: the film was presented in New York at the 13th International Congress of Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons – Endo Expo SLS Annual Meeting on 2004, and was published: Management of Mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas (World J. Gastroenterol. 2010: Dec. 7; 16 (45: 5682-92 ). Assisted in the publication of the Treaty of Surgical Physiopathology (Pensiero Scientifico Editore 1985) with a chapter “Portal Hypertension and Hypersplenism” and First Surgical Book in Albania.
