Mr. Francesco Saverio Latteri was born in Catania (Italy) on 18/09/1980. He graduated at classical high school “S.Francesco di Sales” with the score 60/60.
In 1998 he began Medical School at the University of Catania, and he obtained his medical degree with honours (110/110 cum laude) in 27/7/2004 with his dissertation about “the study of the differences existing between laparoscopic and robotic techniques”. In this occasion, he was nominated for the “Barbagallo Prize”.
From 1999 to 2004, he used to attend as “medical student” the “Hepatobiliary and Mini-invasive Surgical Unit”, (Cannizzaro Hospital, Catania), of which Professor D. Russello was the clinical lead.
Between 01/08/2001 and 17/08/2001, Mr. F. S. Latteri attended the “General Surgery and Trauma Department” led by Prof. Paulo Roberto T. Michelone, at Marilia University Hospital, Brazil.
From 19/04/2004 to 21/04/2004 he participated in the surgical procedures at General Surgery Unit, Hospital of Grosseto, under the supervision of Prof. Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti .
In October 2004 he was awarded the first prize in the SIAARTI competition.
In November 2004, he achieved ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification.
In the second session of the A.Y. 2004/2005 he acquired his license to practice and from April 2004 to March 2005 he got an internership at “Hepatobiliary and Mini-invasive Surgical Unit”, (Cannizzaro Hospital, Catania).
In the academic year 2004/2005 he started his training in general surgery.
In February 2006 he attended the “Intensive Care Unit” led by Prof. C. Denaro, at Cannizzaro Hospital, Catania.
From 01/10/2007 to 20/05/2008 he worked as trainee at the General Surgery Unit, University of Pisa, under the supervision of Prof. F. Mosca.
On 8th and 9th April 2009 he participated as Tutor to the International Workshop in Mininvasive Surgery, at Covidien European Training Centre, Elancourt, France.
On 06/10/2010 he completed his surgical training and he obtained the qualification of general surgeon with honours (70/70 cum laude) discussing a thesis regarding laparoscopic right hemicolectomy.
Since the 1st December 2011, he works as consultant at the General Surgery Unit, Cannizzaro Hospital, Catania.
In 2014 he completed his PhD with a dissertation about advanced multidisciplinary research in transplants.
Since the 21st Decembre 2018, he works as researcher at the University of Catania
He was present at several national and international congresses, as auditor or as lecturer.
He has also published around 60 scientific papers on national or international journals, 9 book chapters and a monograph.
During his career, he has developed not only a through knowledge of written and spoken English but also skills in the use of technology.
