BERTHA IBARRA CORTES

Master and PhD degree in Health Sciences focused in Human Genetics. With expertise in epidemiologic and molecular Disorders of the Hemoglobin, Disorders of the Erythrocyte Membrane and osteoporosis. Retired from Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social as a Head of Genetics Division as Titular D researcher since 2012. At present she is Professor and researcher at Centro Universitario en Ciencias de la Salud (CUCS) of the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG), Guadalajara, Jal. México; Researcher at Sistema Nacional de Investigadores level 3 and Professor and thesis director at Doctorado en Genética Humana, CUCS, UDeG. She has published over 100 international original papers, several book chapters and has given many national and international lecturers. She has palyed important role in the develment of the Doctorate in Human Genetics. She and her group had contributed to dilucidate the statuds of hemogloninopathies in Mexico mainly in regard to HbS and thalassemias at molecular level. She has obtained several recognitions and awards and directed more tha 20 Master and Doctorate thesis. She is member of the Asociación Mexicana de Genética Humana and Academia de Investigación Científica.
