Nancy Roizen, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University. She is a graduate of Tufts University and Tufts Medical School, was an intern in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital, a resident in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, a fellow in developmental pediatrics at the Kennedy Krieger Institute (Baltimore), and a fellow in developmental-behavioral pediatrics at UCSF. Dr. Roizen has been the PI or collaborator on 31 grants. She was an author on both the 1997 and 2015 AAP Developmental-Behavioral Workforce Survey manuscripts and has been board certified in Pediatrics, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. She has published 80 peer reviewed manuscripts plus 15 non-peer reviewed manuscripts, edited 8 books including the 8th Edition of Children with Disabilities by Batshaw, Roizen, and Pellegrino and published 31 chapters. She has been on the editorial board of 3 journals. Over the last 30 years, she has been division chief at 4 institutions (University of Chicago, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Cleveland Clinic, and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital). She has been a board member of the American Board of Pediatrics and a member of the Committee for Subspecialty Certification in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners Behavioral Science Test Committee (Part 1). She represented the AAP on the Joint Committee for Infant Hearing. She was the President of the Society for Developmental Pediatrics and the Down Syndrome Medial Interest Group. She has been received teaching awards at the University of Chicago as well as at the Educator of the Year in the UH Health System (2016). For the past 12 years, she has been the director of the Fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. Her areas of special interest are workforce development, Down syndrome, autism, and hearing loss.
