Dr. Kung is a Senior Teaching Faculty at the Florida State University (FSU) College of Nursing. She is dually certified as a family (FNP) and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP).
Dr. Kung has served in leadership roles in many professional organizations. Her leadership significantly contributed to the passage of multiple pieces of Florida state legislations that improved consumers gaining access to health care. She is recognized for her efforts and was awarded the prestigious AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence for 2021.
Mai serves as an onsite evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). CCNE is the premiere accreditation agency for nursing programs and ensures the quality and integrity of nursing education. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a Faculty Policy Fellow of the American Association of College of Nursing.
Dr. Kung’s educational journey included a DNP from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and she was the recipient of the DNP Academic Excellence Award. She earned a Master’s in Nursing and a Master’s in Public Health from Emory University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Kung received a Post-Master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate and a Post Master’s Nurse Educator Certificate from Florida State University.
