Charles Esambe Alobwede was born in the Southwest Province of Cameroon in the town of Malende in the Kumba Region. He has a B.A. in French-English bilingual studies from the University of Douala, an M.A. in English language studies, a post-doctorat diploma in Sociolinguistics and a PhD in Sociolinguistics from the University of Yaounde, Cameroon. From March 2003 to October 2010, he was sub-director in charge of translation in the Cameroon ministry of communication. From October 2010 to August 2019 he was Technical Adviser to the Cameroon minister of forestry and wildlife. Since September 2019 he is the Director of Student Affairs in the University of Buea, Cameroon. He has published in a variety of academic journals in Cameroon and abroad. He is a senior lecturer of English grammar and Sociolinguistics in both the University of Yaounde I and the University of Buea. He was a member of the African Media and Development Initiative – AMDI organized by BBC World Service Trust in 2006. He was a presenter during the 4th International Symposium on bilingualism in Arizona- USA and equally during the 19th International Conference on Language and Sociology – ICLS in 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
